ATMAN extends the reach of its network to another foreign Internet exchange, DTEL-IX in Kiev

Published Date

The new connection to Kiev increases the total international reach of the ATMAN fiber-optic network to 8500 km. This will enable ATM S.A. to win new customers and partners in Eastern Europe, and to offer services of an even higher standard to its existing ones. The direct point of contact between the ATMAN network and Ukrainian operators will provide users of IP services with significantly faster and more stable data transmission, and consequently greater telecommunications security. The opening of the access node in Kiev is a superb complement to ATM’s existing presence at the four largest European exchange points: MSK-IX in Moscow, AMS-IX in Amsterdam, DE-CIX in Frankfurt, and LINX in London. ATM S.A. is the only Polish operator present at all five of these significant European hubs, and moreover, operates its own Internet exchange (Thinx IX) with its main node in Warsaw.

“Our investment in the access node in Kiev, and earlier in Moscow, is a response to the increasing demand from customers in Eastern Europe for high-quality colocation and transmission services, which is leading to an ever greater number of enquiries reaching us from that region. The development of the ATMAN network in that direction means that we are now able to provide our data transmission services to all customers from the East that require fast and secure communication. Moreover, our presence at DTEL-IX in Kiev strengthens our potential to offer a wide range of services at our data centers, including dedicated servers. We particularly recommend these to firms, which are considering creating backup data centers in Poland for disaster recovery needs. The Ukrainian hub is a key element of our strategy for delivering the highest-quality ICT solutions to the huge market in the east of Europe. For that region, Poland is the nearest European Union country and has colocation sites that can ensure the storage and processing of data to the highest European standards,” said Jacek Krupa, Vice President of ATM S.A.

Customers of ATM S.A.in Eastern Europe can take advantage of the company’s three state-of-the-art data centers in Poland (with total space of 10,600 square meters), as well as the Polish nationwide ATMAN fiber-optic network (4500 km of long-distance lines). In combination with the access nodes (PoPs) in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Moscow and now Kiev, such an extensive network also creates a wider range of opportunities for customers from Eastern Europe, who can now obtain an even higher quality of communication in their region. In consequence, ATM is becoming the hub that connects the East and West of Europe with its telecommunications services.

ATM S.A. is the WSE listed Polish data center market leader as well as an expert in security of data transmission and processing. Under the ATMAN and Thinx Poland brands the company provides colocation, hosting and private cloud computing services in its data centers with 10,600 sq m (114,100 sq ft) of the total space. Using own international links and fiber-optic networks in the largest Polish cities, ATM offers broadband IP services including Internet access and data transmission. Major recipients of the services are telecommunications operators, traditional media, Internet portals, financial institutions, commercial and industrial companies.
